For the next cohort of students, I will run socially engaged situated teaching in collaboration with my co-tutor with these principles in mind:
- Develop clear reciprocity with external partners that also includes how students’ output can be beneficial for them
- Develop clear aims and deliverables for each teaching session with co-tutor and further develop these through co-production with students, so that students can feel more at ease with the teaching and learning approach
- Bring examples of social research tools that students can adopt and adapt for their own enquiries
- Continue to collect data from students and external participants to identify areas that need further consideration and improvement
- Start small and ‘infrastructure’ with a longer project timelime to allow for myself and my co-tutor to build confidence in our approach to teaching and learning on site with students, communities and external collaborators. This will include changing the structure to allow for on-site teaching on alternative weeks.
